Genetec, a global leader in enterprise physical security software, today announced new updates to Security Center SaaS, its enterprise-grade Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. Since launch, Genetec has delivered new features to the platform every 12 days, ensuring a flexible and open SaaS solution that evolves continuously to meet the demands of modern security operations

Security Center SaaS unifies video surveillance, access control, forensic search, intrusion monitoring, automation, and other advanced capabilities in a single platform. Designed for full cloud deployment or hybrid configurations that include on-premises systems, it offers organisations the flexibility to manage and scale their security infrastructure according to their specific needs.

The latest updates expand support for direct-to-cloud cameras, enhance edge recording capabilities, and introduce new third-party analytics integrations, reinforcing Genetec’s rapid innovation cycle and ongoing commitment to customer choice.

Unlike proprietary SaaS solutions, Security Center SaaS empowers security professionals and channel partners to choose the hardware that best suits their needs, without being locked into a single vendor. Its open architecture supports a wide range of devices from manufacturers such as Axis, Bosch, and i-PRO, including direct-to-cloud, PTZ, and fisheye cameras (now with automatic de-warping). Organizations can also connect existing non-cloud-ready access control devices, cameras, and intrusion panels using Genetec appliances, helping them extend the value of their current infrastructure.

This flexibility also applies to deployment models. Security Center SaaS supports cloud-native, on-premises, or hybrid deployments, giving organisations full control over the pace and scope of their cloud migration.

Video storage can be managed either at the edge or in the cloud based on bandwidth availability, policy requirements, or operational preferences, all through a centralized web and mobile interface. New edge recording via SD cards allows video to be stored locally on the camera, while configurable recording profiles streamline the setup of how and where footage is captured across multiple devices.

With built-in WebRTC support, the platform also enables peer-to-peer video streaming directly from cameras to a web browser, significantly reducing video call-up times and bandwidth consumption. This makes it ideal for live monitoring, spot checks, and scalable deployments without requiring additional setup.

Security Center SaaS simplifies multi-site security management for industries such as retail, education, corporate campuses, banking, healthcare, and urban infrastructure. Operators can manage systems centrally from a Security Operations Center (SOC) or remotely via mobile and web applications. Real-time alerts ensure fast and consistent incident response, while the platform’s open architecture facilitates integration with partner technologies that extend its capabilities.

For instance, the latest integration with Bosch firearm detection analytics enables automatic alerts and triggers event-to-action workflows the moment a weapon is detected, empowering security teams to respond quickly and decisively when every second counts.

“Genetec is redefining what SaaS means for physical security. It’s not just moving to the cloud; it’s about giving customers and integrators the flexibility to build, scale, and evolve their systems,” said Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec Inc. “Security Centre SaaS stands apart by unifying physical security functions on a single platform, continuously adding new cloud-native capabilities while supporting the hardware and deployment models organizations already rely on.”
